On a night like this (on a night like this) When the champagne goes straight to my head On a night like this (on a night like this) Some things are better left unsaid. I’ll drink it over I’ll drink it over I’ll drink it over With you On a night like (on a night like this) When I’m feeling four sheets to the wind On a night like this (on a night like this) My two loose lips are safety-pinned I’ll drink it over I’ll drink it over I’ll drink it over… With you And if you think I’ve had enough I’ve had enough of what you think And if you knew me You’d see through me In a wink…or two On a night like (on a night like this) When I feel the spirits taking me On a night like (on a night like this) Don’t raise a glass reluctantly I’ll drink it over I’ll drink it over I’ll drink it over… With you With you With you…

Save Me 03:25
Empty…freezing Drunk from the altar wine I’m barely breathing An insect in turpentine… Broken, bleeding Battered, left behind Think of your troubles And worries that plague your mind The crowd on the sidewalk The kiss of the summer sun But think of your troubles Your troubles have just begun You lost your way, you have to pay You have to meet your maker You mustn’t try to overstay The undertaker… If you do what they tell you They promise it’ll be alright If you buy what they sell you then one kiss Will set it right… Well set it right, right now

Sweetshop 03:08
Sweet Shop, where the Sheik of Araby shops On lipstick-colored laptops Beneath the cherry moon Sweet shop, where the dandelion dewdrops Explode above the tube tops And burst just like balloons… You needn’t bother With the Son or the Father ‘Cause everything’s okay And it really doesn’t matter anyway One day your tooth decay is gonna keep you up all night ‘Til the morning comes and finds you craving more Knocking on the door of the… Sweetshop, where the creature in the cornstalks Heaves a heavy cyclops And croaks a crooked tune Sweetshop, where the rattle of the rain drops Are cotton-candy tick-tocks ‘Til the very crack of doom You shouldn’t wonder at the star that you’re under Or what the prophets say ‘Cause it really doesn’t matter anyway

I’ve done a lot of thinking And I know Between the laughs and winking We tip -toe I’ve had enough of drinking And horseplay Let’s call it a day… You’ve broken every promise You’ve made me I’ve written off my losses And I’m happy I’ve had enough of heartache And child’s play Let’s call it a day Clarity Has swept over me And I’m not certain you can see… It’s symptomatic of What only seemed like love I’m packing up my memories The song plays Not looking for a reprise Of the old days I’ve had enough of rumors And hearsay Let’s call it a day

So Can You 02:56
I'm so depraved I can't be saved But please don't misconstrue I'll do my best to piss off the rest If I can so can you... I kick down doors Settle scores I burn my bridges too I won't behave at your mother's grave If I can so can you Let's run the bastards through We'll join the chosen few Me and you The more I learn The less I know I watch the shadows grow It's time to give the devil the devil's due A god-damned coward, truth be told Never live up to the hype that you've been sold Save for fucking up I'm such a bore Shedding off my skin I'm happy to begin the game once more...

He’s the man of the moment He’s the one with the diamond ring in his hand He’s the man of the moment A heartbeat and a handshake dressed as a man And do you think she’ll ever wonder how it came to this? And will she willingly exchange a wedding vow With such a piece of work as this? He’s the man of the moment
9.
She's broken every single vow She's brought you to your knees You're headed for a mighty row Inevitably Your brain is boilin’ for goodness sake You're headed for a fall You think that you've taken all that you can take And that's when you recall... Don't lose your temper Don't t make it now or never Don't lose your temper You'll find it's getting better... Getting better You've dotted every single “I” Crossed every single “T” You’ve gotten all your points across From here to eternity Don't lose your temper Don't make it now or never Don't lose your temper You'll find it's getting better... Getting better Now you’re tugging on my money belt That’s plain to see Now I know how the monkey felt In Memphis Tennessee

Be Not Coy 03:10
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may Your time is almost past Gather ye rosebuds while ye may Nothing gold can last I never knew The right thing to do Or what it was all about… So gather ye rosebuds while ye may Your time is running out All of your youth and beauty Will fade like a fleeting dream Make sure when you awaken You don’t regret a thing Gather ye rosebuds while ye may Give all the love you have Be not too coy or shy away Now is your golden chance Try not to take for granted We’ll always stay this way Do all the things you’ve wanted Say what you mean to say Gather ye rosebuds while ye may Now while the season’s high And if tomorrow never comes Know that you lived your life I never knew The right thing to do Or what it was all about… So, gather ye rosebuds while ye may Your time is running out… Your time is running out

The Old Gods 03:38
They come from up above Showing unrequited love They got the collar of control That‘s all you need to know… The Old Gods are here The Old Gods are here The Old Gods are here To stay… Hey hey… We shudder when they speak And they feed upon the weak Like cattle in the field We fear the force that they wield The Old Gods are here The Old Gods are here The Old Gods are here To stay… Hey hey… It’s futile to resist the giant space lords Impossible to fight the fearsome space hordes So awful to behold their gruesome faces As you're sold off in cosmic marketplaces… They bring punishment and pain ‘Til we’re docile once again And now we need to breed Because it’s time for them to feed…

Bankside 02:40
Odd night in Bankside Cold on the inside outside My overcoat won’t button up For falling down I missed the last train Just as the rain came pouring down How could I let a true heart down, down down What was I thinking? What was I drinking? When I took a chair by you Just a stranger, so much a stranger, oh… Gotta be friendly, coincidentally When I wandered home with you Just a stranger, so much a stranger oh… Odd night in Bankside I felt the whole thing caving in I took a blindside Straight home, straight home, straight home again What was I thinking? What was I drinking? When I took a chair by you Just a stranger, so much a stranger, oh… Odd night in Bankside I felt the knife go slipping in Before the sunrise Straight home, straight home, straight home again.

Monkey Punch 03:15
The story's still in replay You heard it all before You got everything you wanted But always want for more So, I ask the loaded question And you better answer back You're running out of answers It's your time to attack You know they're keeping tabs on you Closer by the day It's the cost of doing business The punishment, the pain But you better keep your head up You best not think too much If you look the other way too long You get the monkey punch Monkey punch! (No one to talk to, nobody's there for you...) Monkey punch! (Total break down when the monkey comes to town)

Record Notes

In Tacoma, “art” is a garrison faith where collars are blue, and the skies are gray. If you are a musician, or any kind of person who describes him/herself as an “artist” you are immediately suspect…understood to be unemployed or suffering from a serious delusion of some kind. So, it’s certainly a leap of faith for this cadre of Tacomans whose work is collected here--who have spent the better parts of their lives writing, playing, and singing songs--to have dropped these shiny pennies into the deep and bottomless well, waiting patiently for the report of a splash that will probably never come.

So, we stand together, we fictive “Mystik Knights” once again to make song and once again to drop pennies down the well…
