about

Call it sunshine pop, or bubblegum pop, it was shiny and bouncy and all over television and radio in the 70’s.

These tunes were sung by the likes of David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman and Leif Garrett, and even by cartoon bands like the Archies, the Banana Splits, and Josie and the Pussycats. You mean the Partridge Family wasn’t a real band? So what! It sold millions!

This is why we chose to use Hal Blaine’s actual drum set on this song; Hal and the Wrecking Crew were often the performative force behind these songs, written by legends like Boyce and Hart, Neil Diamond, Leiber and Stoller, et al.

lyrics

Occam we need you as tales spin about
Pare down these notions the fringe always touts
Too many sides to an obvious thing
The wise poking holes at what the foolish all bring
A sad painted story an engine gains speed
People are listening and filling some need
There’s nothing I see and I’m placing no bets
At the end of the day, its as good gets

Show me a sign.
One bit of reason, a reason to find
Lets get on our way
There is really no reason. There is nothing to say

Quit throwing out morals and living on high
Don’t always think that the money will buy
Stature and smiles and false self esteem
Occam has told us its just what it seems
Twisting the tales till you’re out of control
Stop painting pictures and selling your soul
Hawking the future and parting your ways
Ego and brains always get in the way

A look from every angle always gets you lost. Spinning stories at everyone’s cost

No one believes you yet you still talk out loud. You fell from the flock and got lost in the crowd.
