about

This is “The Lesser” the 16th song from the ever-expanding Vanilla “Pish Posh” collection, written by and featuring our friend and frequent collaborator Carl Funk.

It’s still possible to dream of a day when the least among us has a voice to make positive changes.

“The Lesser” was chiefly recorded at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco in a single take with Carl singing and playing live with our friend Prairie Prince on drums and Sean Gaffney on bass. Listen for Prairie’s joyous shout at the end of the coda - nothing pleases like finishing a great live track!

lyrics

Time for the monsters of this world
To fade away and be unheard
Time for the evil, time for the cruel
Broken by anger and it’s tools
Time for the greedy who don’t understand
Time for the masters killing this land

Time for the sleepers and gentle souls
Time for the wistful vision it holds
Time for the stars webbing the night
Time for the others left holding the light
Time for the stewards, time for the peace
Time for the lesser
To say the least

Imagine if you will
A minor miracle
A house upon a hill
Where we all belong

Time for the stars webbing the night
Time for the others left holding the light
Time for the stewards
Time for the peace
Time for the lesser
To say the least
